An economizer is a type of heat exchange device that soaks up waste heat from exhaust gases to warm up the boiler’s feed water. Doing this does a few key things: it raises the feed water temperature, brings down the exhaust gas temperature, cuts down on heat loss, makes the boiler more efficient, and saves fuel as a result.
Usually, boiler economizers are put in the boiler’s tail flue, right next to the air preheater. This setup works because after the flue gas goes through the air preheater, its temperature already drops a bit—and then it passes through the economizer to cool down even more. That extra temperature drop helps boost the boiler’s thermal efficiency.

Function

 

1. Absorb the heat of low-temperature flue gas, reduce the exhaust temperature, reduce the exhaust loss, and save fuel.

2. Because the feed water is heated in the economizer before entering the steam drum, the heat absorption of the feed water on the heating surface is reduced, and the economizer can be used to replace part of the evaporation heating surface with high cost.

3. When the feed water temperature increases, the wall temperature difference will be reduced when it enters the steam drum, and the thermal stress will be reduced accordingly, prolonging the service life of the steam drum.

 

 

Energy-saving principle

 

        Add a reheating process to the cycle. Increase the average temperature of endothermy. This increases the efficiency of the cycle. During the start-up process of the boiler (drum boiler), because the circulation of its steam-water pipeline is not established, that is, the boiler feed water is in a stagnant state, and the water in the economizer is in a state of non-flow at this time. With the strengthening of boiler combustion and the increase of flue gas temperature, the water in the economizer is easy to vaporize, so that the part of the economizer is in an overtemperature state. In order to avoid this situation, a pipe is connected from the centralized sewer pipe of the steam drum to the inlet of the economizer as a recirculation pipe, so that the water in the economizer is in a flowing state to avoid its vaporization.
